COOKFOX Architects/Buro Happold
The team was inspired to push the boundaries of architectural terra cotta by creating a biophilic, high-performance screen wall. A standardized stacking module filters sunlight and provides the framework for a customizable array with the insertion of micro-habitat pods. A bottom watering planter pod passively collects the rainwater from the façade and stores the excess water for later irrigation use. Other pods create habitats for birds and native, solitary (stingless) bees. The goal is to support and educate about the diverse native ecosystems that thrive in our urban environments.
